Oil painting on canvas, Sir Harry Fetherstonhaugh, 2nd Bt MP (1754-1846) as a Boy by Sir Nathaniel Dance-Holland RA (London 1735 ? Winchester 1811), signed bottom left: N. D. pxt, 1769/70. A three-quarter-length portrait, running to the left in a landscape, with a greyhound; he is dressed in green and is carrying a spear. The only child of Sir Matthew Fetherstonhaugh and Sarah Lethieullier. Dance had studied with Batoni while in Rome from 1754 to 1765, which must have recommended him to the Fetherstonhaughs; this portrait of their only son was clearly inspired by Batoni's 'hunting' portraits of them in the Red Drawing Room.
