Looking towards the East and North Ranges at Bodiam Castle, East Sussex, built between 1385 and 1388. The castle replaced Sir Edward Dalyngrigge's manor house during the Hundred Years War when the French were able to attack across the Channel, and could reach Bodiam via the River Rother.
