The High Great Chamber at Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire. The late sixteenth-century frieze was almost certainly modelled by Abraham Smith, and the theme is the forest with the court of Diana and scenes from country life and animals. The great canopy is embroidered with the arms of Countess Christian and her husband, the 2nd Earl. The Brussels tapestries which depict the story of Ulysses were purchased in 1587.
